In order to keep the labels on lure bottles/bait bottles legible, I place them in small zip lock baggies when going into the field. This will also reduce any chance the bottles become contaminated with eachother or other foreign odors as well as keeps the labels dry and legible.
Another method would be to steal your wife's clear fingernail polish and apply to the label. Both methods work well.

Hmmm... I don't have a wife so that's out. :D

But I could use my daughter's nail polish!!!   heh heh heh

Seriously, how about marking the top of the bottle with a black Sharpie? Would that work?

KD,
Yes a sharpie or magic marker will work. The problem that led me to this is that after the labels get wet they have a tendencie to fall off. Now my memory ain't so good anymore and 1 bottle pretty much looks like the others most of the time. Besides that, I was often worried about the smell or the contents of one getting onto or somehow into the other. By using zip locks each with its own content within, I no longer have to worrry about contamination or labels.

Very true. Zip locks are a good idea.

I tried the wide , clear tape and found the labels somehow still got wet and "bled" real bad making them inlegiable. Have started thinking that I might need to have them done in brail. lol.
