I just read on the NAFA report that marten are on a seven year cycle? Is that a reference to their population cycle? If so, how do you work that into your trapping strategy?

I thought they were talking about a 7 year cycle of selling. I have no idea though.

7 year cycle, well they got to say something for the poor sale on marten. Last year was a bumper crop of marten and total was just over 90,000 for their first sale. This year they had close to 70,000 for their first sale and only sold not even 30%. Two years ago they had 60,000 and the year before and so on, even with those numbers of marten they sold 100%. Average numbers on the marten for the first sale is between 50 to 60,000 skins. Second sale has always been far less marten. I don't know about this seven year cycle crap their stating that has had an effect on marten sales. Been selling marten for many many years and this has been the worst sale ever for clearance and they come up with that excuse. Lets hope things go as good as they say on their next sale as I still have plenty of marten waiting to be sold.

Just to fill some of you in on the poor marten sale,
Last year sold 100% marten.... total on marten alone was$26,426.65
This year only sold 25 marten out of the bunch for $2597.80

Even though the prices had dropped 30% I still had some marten go in the $170.00 range. The thing that killed me was poor clearance. But hey I can look forward to another fur cheque if they can sell them :)
