Got a beaver call 2 days ago, theres a few beavers cutting up an old ladys young apple trees on a creek bank, so i went and checked it out, she had a few pics of the beavers in her yard, they werent very large so i went with a #2 size coil spring, i set 5 of them on the bank, the next evening she called and said one of the traps were sprung so i went and checked it out and there was half of a foot in the trap, the beaver had pulled out, i dont have very much expiernce in trapping beavers but i do know of people using #2 size on them, any tips?

I use #4's for beaver and make them drowning sets. Beaver are hard to hold (in my opinion). "there are guys" that do a lot of things but it don't mean that it's right.

Are you sure something didn't take your small beaver for dinner? Maybe a coyote? Bobcat? I have not heard of a beaver chewing out like a muskrat before. Maybe it's the first time.

Front foot wring-offs have been known to happen with beavers. Like Nelson said, drowning sets are the way to go. Dispatches them quickly and keeps them out of sight.

im with nelson and tk on damage control you want as quick a dispatch as possible to keep your customer happy on dc work for beaver i use bodygrips when ever possible and if not possible i use snares. and foot holds as a last resort just because most people that dont understand their efectiveness when used properly dont like them and are afraid of them more so than a bodygrip good luck on your ventures
