Post subject:  ADC license, why so long?

I found out why it was taking so long to hear back from the state. I called the biologist to check on my application that was supposed to take 5 weeks that I mailed in 8 weeks ago. He e-mailed me that the application was approved and sent to the state for certification. And, "sorry for the delay, it was in a pile of mail on my desk". I am glad I called but I guess I should have done it weeks ago. Lesson learned, you have to keep on the government if you want them to do thier job. If I did my job like that, I would be collecting returnable cans and bottles on the side of the road for a living by now.

Seems when Gov't, large or small gets involved with matters, lots of important items get "piled on the desks"......

Yep, state workers are notorious for just such things and I work for a state. We have one lady that pretty much paints her nails everyday and nothing else and makes $10,797/mo. <<<<Thats no typo!!! But shes a good Democrat! (our ruling party right now, next it'll be a Republican holding that position.) Our law says 30 days notice whether you get/are eligible for a FOID card, last I knew it was at least a 3 month turn around.

I'd paint my nails for that kind of money, where do I sign up?

They just released some wages of prison guards in our local paper. Top salary is $55,000 but with all the overtime 40 of them made over $110,000. Top paid guard made $130,00, $10,000 less then the director.

BWM, do you know if these guards are union or have they made such good wages from doing an outstanding job at "guarding"? I worked for the Texas Department of Corrections in 1965 and it was a "state job" and we started at state level pay scale....$360.00 @ month (less deductions). The only folks making any money then were the Officials. Oh how the times have changed.

I finally got my ADC license last week. Had a chance to try out my new Nothwoods 155's. Set out 4 and two cage traps. Ended up with 8 wood chucks in 4 days. I like the way the 155's are working. Very strong trap. They are 5 by 5 inches and have 160 size springs on them. Very hard to set the springs without mechanical advantage. 90 percent of the catches were almost instant, no sign of any struggle at all.

Now I see why the state took so long to send your license....they have heard of you and now see the woodchuck population deminishing at a rapid speed! Good going!

Not such a great accomplishment. The place is over run with them. They are digging under foundations, pond banks, and fence lines. They are like rats, big fat rats. The darn things multiply worse than rabbits. They need to go :!:
