So in my enthusiasm at the anticipation of the upcoming trapping season I can't stop taking about it at work. All of the sudden I've got three or four guys telling me about smokers robbed of their salmon overnight and cat/dog food bowls being emptied prematurely. Each guy would tell of seeing 3 to 7 coons from time to time. The catch is that they are all in heavy residential areas. I have 120's, 220's and #2 DLS and 5.5 KB's. Will a coon scream in anger at a foothold and wake all the neighbors? And I assume a house cat is just as likely to respond to a baited cubby set(square 5 gallon bucket) with a coni at the entrance? I hate to spend even more on cage traps, but the screaming may still be an issue. And coon cuffs are just a pet proof foothold, but I don't have any of those either. Do I need to be licensed/bonded to trap in the city? Renters(landlord permission required?) vs homeowners? And most importantly PM me QUIET(shhh) dispatch methods.

dog proof (dp) and cage traps is the best I can think of. I've come up with some cage traps at the flea market for $10-15.

you can discourage dogs and cats by using sweet smelling bait instead of fishy or meaty smelling. Its no guarantee though
