What kind of salt do you use to tan animal fur, does it need to be iodized or not? thanks

i don't think you salt the fur if your selling it. i might be wrong. i might have missunderstood. if your tanning it yourself youd salt it, i use whatever is cheapest. the local IFA sells it by the bag i'm useing non iodized right now

my buddy is a taxidermist and i help him about 4 nights a week. we salt capes that are going to the tannery with non iodized but for case skinned furrberrers that are not being mounted and going to be sold just stretch 'em.

depends on what you use for tanning. what I used said table salt and most table salt is. that is what I used. read the directions it should say .

Don't use iodized (table) salt. Go to your local feed supply store and geta 50lb bag of 'mixing fine grind' salt. It's non-iodized, and only like 5-8 bucks a bag.

I should re read the directions maby I didn't use table or it was not iodized I will look again sorry if I misslead any one.
