I have small streams running thru my property on both sides of the road. Nearest neighbors are 1/4 mile away on both sides. Both neighbors have very active muskrat ponds where beaver have dammed up the streams, the rats can be seen almost constantly. The ponds are stream (mine) fed. I have picked up a few rats but not many. I have seen little rat sign on my property. I use 110 conibers in the stream narrows, have made a few pocket sets using # 1 long spring and # 1 coil spring traps. I use professional rat lure, apple slices etc. I cant complain about my Coyote, fox, coon catches they have been steady. Neighbors have family members trapping their property so that is out of the question. Just how far do rats travel ??? :(

I read in a russ carman book that rats will only go a couple hundred yards max. You could always dig out the strem to make it a pond with high banks, you'll have rats in no time!
