I dont use trapping baskets, they brake. 5 gallon buckets work the best. there normally free and can be found every where

I have been running the line for 10 yrs. with a white ash woven packbasket. They will and do last if you deal with them right before using. I applied 3 cans of Marine spar urathane to mine before taking it on the line. Everything on it that is wood (100%) gets coated. Every yr. since then she gets 2 more coats. Both applied in the summer and then allowed to hang outside to air dry. I have used the fibertuff baskets and they are junk in cold weather. They crack and break with the slightest thump. 5 Gal. pails do work and I do carry 1 on the line at all times. I use a carpenters apron tied around the outside lip. In this I carry my lures only. Inside the pail are my hatchet and wire, disposable stakes and stake driver, plus a dozen extra swivels . The packbasket carries my kneeling rubber and traps. When a critter is caught it too goes to the basket. To me, packbaskets are a solid investment if taken care of.
