i set a trap with some bait and red fox urine by a dead tree
i go and check them with frost on the ground
and in one spot near my trap there isnt frost
it was a fox bedded down there that night
too bad i didnt get them
i know how to get them in but gotta get them into my trap and not around
i also might move to arizona
ill hunt yotes there and come back here in winter for trapping

What size trap are you using, also the brand and type? It could be the wrong trap for fox. Did you see any tracks or anything? If you didn't it could have been a coon. They are legendary for chewing toes then wringing off.

i use dukes 1 3/4 and my trap didnt spring

what is your pan tension set on? dukes usually come with the pan bolt tightened way too much

it might have just been a loner waiting for a lover off of the scent he put there might not have even went to trap
when that happens look around set for a new urine spot that it might have left for another critter thats your new set

If your from PA it might be a good idea to get yourself the cable restraint class, I think the PGC usually has the upcoming classes on their website, just one more tool in your arsenol, good luck!

hey stphns05 where i pa are the classes held and when are they are they soon or next year i need to find on i want to start useing cable restraints for canines

Go the Pannsylvania Game Commissions website, www.pgc.state.pa.us
and look up the hunters education calendar. On it you will find dates for classes and a contact. Call that person for the class in your area and ask if that particular class includes the cable restaint class, if not he can give you info on when one is going to be.
