Post subject:  I passed on mink boards today...

I went rummaging in the "big city" today. In a neighborhood that when I was in jr and senior high was full of unionized meat packers, I came across a sale that was offering 3 piles of wooden mink boards at $5 a pile (about 5-6 boards a pile). I looked at them and thought about it. I have 3 mink boards and seem to do ok with the occasional mink I catch, I don't see me running a long mink line anytime soon with the fuel used vs. the price for wild mink. I told the gal I'd actually have to catch enough mink to fill the all the boards at one time. She wasn't overly amused. Now, if I could have gotten them all for $6, I would have bought all 3 piles. I did buy a dozen more new 110s at the end of last season so I might have to plant more of tRick's bottom edge sets in some creeks around here in early Dec. Who knows, might have need a couple of those board piles but I doubt it...

trappintime, I thought about you when I posted this today. I said to myself, "man, I wish I could have watched a master deal maker work this situation." Maybe all the boards would have gone home with trappintime for $6 bucks!!

Not even I could have got them all for $6 probably but I'd dang sure tried. :D
Just think with that many boards a person could start thinking of using them as shingles.

I would have snatched up that deal PC!

Even if you didn't plan on using them you may have made a profit by selling them on ebay. When mink were averaging $25.00 each 5 years ago that would have been a steal!

Yeah, could be tRick, although my experiences on ebay is that weight and/or bulkiness can kill deals pretty quick from the cost of postage. I'd like to see $25 for a nice buck mink again. But, I think its going to be a while...
