Wife got me and our son a metal sign for the fur shed. She told them she wanted a coyote, beaver and otter on it. Turned out great. About 18"x30".

One question. This is our first southern Indiana coyote and was wondering if its color was any good?

Merry Christmas

Amazing what can be done with a plasma cutter!!

You might have to frame that one of your son with the otter. They grow up fast!!

Awesome sign!

Its great to see you two out getting the fur! Otters are about my favorite fur to deal with all the way around. Not exactly easy in any aspect, I just love working with them.

On the coyote question. You will find there is likely to be a great variance of colors in your local population. ...one extreme to the other is common. This one looks pretty dark brown from the pic. I've sold most common colors in the past, and pretty consistently have done better with the pale colors like light gray. The belly is very important too, and again, as close to white as possible seems best. For your knowledge, the silky, fine textured coats, are also more valuable, which is one reason western coyotes do so well. Your yote does look nice and heavy for the region. As trappers, we just take what comes, and have little control on what color animals get in the traps. We can release the bad ones, but in my area, great colored yotes are the most uncommon. I just take the norm, and release those badly off colored ones. A coyote is a good catch regardless.....

Thanks for the replies. Yes I know this is a time to enjoy my son's company. We won't be able to do this forever together.

Amak- I have only done a couple of otter but I really enjoyed them. And as far as the coyote I was just curious about the value. On our small lines we will happily take what we can get!
