Well, the anti's have started a major offensive. I cannot stress enough the importance of joining the NTA and your state or provincial trappers organization.

I'm guessing the anti's are starting this with fur prices down and figuring no one will care.

NTA Alert : California - Bobcat Trapping Banned ~

RE: California bobcat trapping update 9/23/2015

CTA supporters:

On August 5th our Fish and Game commission voted 3-2 to ban bobcat trapping statewide as a way to implement the provisions of the bill passed two years ago. With many other options on the table politics and bias prevailed.

A discouraging blow to say the least but we are not ready to give up yet and have some options.

The direction we have chosen to take is to re-petition the commission with compliance to CEQA ( California Environmental Quality Act) as the centerpiece of our request. CEQA is a very complicated doctrine and an entire industry (attorneys) exists here because of it. We feel fairly confident that we can create enough of an issue to stall the regulations allowing trapping this

season and buy us some time to further develop our argument. Should the commission refuse our re-petition we intend to enter litigation.

Following the meeting in August I had a conference call with the CA office of Sportsman's Alliance and they vowed to do whatever is necessary including litigation to show this rogue commission that they can't continue to run over us. Additionally we have been receiving advice from Safari Club and it looks like they will be able to assist should litigation be necessary. They (SCI) cannot get involved if the issue were solely commercial use but since the proposed regs. disallow all take under a trapping license (hunting) they believe they will be able to become officially involved.

So we will be sending in a re-petition request tomorrow, 9/23/2015 and expect that it will be heard at the October commission meeting. If they accept the re-petition then I would estimate we would need to formally present at the December meeting. At that point we will need to hire a CEQA attorney if we are going to present an effective argument.

In order to continue our contract with our lobbyist, hire an attorney to help prepare our re-petition argument and be able to through some funds into
the pot should litigation follow I would like to request a donation for our cause.
All monies previously sent have been exhausted solely on our contract with our lobbyist. All my time and any other members time and travel

expense has been completely out of pocket and will continue that way.

Any support would be appreciated. Checks can be mailed to: Reid Aiton

Electronic donations can be received via Pay Pal on the

NTA Alert : Delaware Trappers - Gray Fox ~

The Delaware Trappers are requesting that trappers nationwide submit comments opposing the proposed regulation change that would require all gray fox taken, killed or captured to be reported to the Division of Fish and Wildlife by the next business day using its established reporting system(s).

Next day reporting of gray fox incidental harvest is a burden to trappers and will likely result in less accurate harvest reports than an annual harvest report at the end of the season. Trappers who forget to report a fox within 24 hours will not report it due to being afraid of breaking the law. End of season reporting will satisfy the reporting requirement of the Department for gray fox, increase reporting accuracy and not put undue burden on he already dwindling trapping community.

Individuals may submit written comments regarding the proposed changes via e-mail to Lisa.Vest@state.de.us or via the USPS to Lisa Vest, Hearing Officer, DNREC, 89 Kings Highway, Dover, DE 19901 (302) 739-9042.

After October 7, 2015 public comments will no longer be accepted.

Thanks in advance for anyone who takes the time to help a fellow trapper.

Time to leave the socialist state of CA or any other crazed state.

tRick- Any updates on the cali bcat situation after your first posting? Were they successful in getting the banned lifted? I thought I heard something about somewhere but don't remember the details.

PC, the ban has not been lifted and will not be I'm sure. A lot of money has been donated to Cali and Mercer to fight this and has made no ground on it. Libral Cali is to far gone to win that battle, it's just the sorry truth of it, imo. It is sad for sure. It is spreading like cancer. I am glad I live where I do. Kansas is one of a few states that has its act together when it comes to trappin and huntin. NTA is an association I do not recommend to join. I will not debate this, just do your homework about the NTA. FTA is a much better choice. Attempts have been made to start a thread on the brown site for donations to help Cali out, but Dobbins deleted them all as far as I know unless he has changed his sorry mind. Another site did start a thread sometime back to help with donations that Mercer is a member of and Mercer kept updates on that thread for a while. The donations were piling up. Not much info as of lately though. It's going to get much worse across the states though, imo.
