Went clothes shopping (you know what I mean....) today at Fleet Farm and got some new blaze orange. I was just wondering if any of you are hunting deer this year? I just love that rush when your in that tree stand and a nice buck or doe walks across the path...
Anyways, back to my question, who's all going? I'll be in the stand with my brother because I haven't taken the Hunter Safety course yet.
Good luck, happy hunting!
:)

Been out since late October. Getting desperate now. I have until 30 minutes past sunset on the 25th to tag out. Then its back to squirrels, rabbits, and maybe some other small game.

Do you guys keep your sets out during deer season? I wouldn't think so, since you're usually out dawn till dusk.
I'm proud to say I've been going with my dad and brother since I was six.

Bryton,
Congratulation on your 1st coon. Good job. I will be out hunting for the full season if need be. Hopefully I will tag out by noon on Sat. As for running the trap line. I just finished pulling my k9 sets today. Will still be running beaver, mink and rat seeing as how I do it in the same swamp I rifle hunt in. As soon as season is over, the k9 sets will be going back out plus some. Be safe out there. Keep your eyes open.

I passed on several small bucks and a lot of does but my son got his first deer. A little doe with the shotgun during the youth season. He made a really good 45-50 yard shot. :D

Totals this year between John and myself:

1 buck (7pt with teeeensy brow tines. Ring method-9pt. Inch method-7pt)
10 does (Crop-damage. You should see what they did to my norways. :()

On Video:
A nice young 10 that will be good next year
2 nice 8's that were very pretty video'd at less than 25 yards.
Multiple 6's
1 weird 5 that would have culled had I got a shot.
And lots of 'little princes' (4 points and less) strutting their stuff.

Will be a nice video after editting. :)

We didn't get a thing. :(
Even though we saw 4 deer...My brother shot 4-5 times at two deer and missed...
He has to take his time, when I pointed them out, BAM! BAM!

wow... One shot, one kill. If you jerk or wound, maybe a second. But 4-5 misses? Not cool.
