OK, the frickin wind hasn't quit for 3 weeks. I can handle cold but this wind is just too much. I cut down 2 big oaks today for firewood and had one eye up to make sure they didn't blow back on me. The snow went sideways all day, it couldn't even hit the dang ground it blew so hard .  :roll

I think it's time for my medication. 8) :

I don't mind if it blows the leaves outta the yard, but it's a bit much when it blows the topsoil away with it.

They blew so much topsoil away up here in the thirties that many acres were screwed for farming. On the other hand it always makes for good arrow head hunting.

Sounds more like Wyoming. Only been in that state one time that it wasn't blowing.

Well our fruit is screwed again this year. What few trees didn't freeze last week bit the dust last night. 20F this morning, it even froze the leaves. At least the wind let up a little.

doc- Sorry to hear of your late freezes and whacking your fruit trees. ANyway to "armor them up" to protect a bit against the unusual freezes (I'm assuming its unusual to get a freeze this late in your parts by the way to described it). Hard to protect the whole tree I'm sure but what about "smudge pots" like the citrus guys used to do down in Florida?

Well guys, that's just life. More times than not we have late freezes that screw everything. No way in L I could cover everything. Life's a (Hey, I am talking about a female canine here) and then you marry one . Then you die.

Last year I would have bet my last cent we wouldn't get any Saskatoons or Chokecherries because of frost and we had a bountiful harvest. I quit trying to figure out ma and just live with her.

Wind usually blows for most of the day here too. Starts in about 11 am and ends about six pm.
I don't have fruit trees but I see many around here whose blooms were frozen.
It is a sad thing to lose a whole years fruit production.
Hoping to get some goose berry bushes in this year and maybe some grapes.
