Was going through the ammo drawer today and come across an older box of 38 special with a stamp on it. When did they do this? Why did they do this? You know the drill, fill me in.

My guess is that tax was assessed many many years ago , before liberals existed, or it would have been much higher. ;--) :lol: :lol: :lol:

looking closer I'd say it was 1916, and most likely an ammunition tax. 8|- :mrgreen:

I noticed that number too. The shells are not from that time period though. Why an ammo tax? We had stamps on tobacco and liquor for years but we called them luxury tax. Taxing ammo just seemed so wrong to me. I guess it kinda makes sense to tax something that wasn't going to hit it's mark though. :roll:

Taxing ammo is wrong. Taxing almost everything is wrong. But the politicians don't seem to give 2 hoots about right and wrong, do they ?
