Maine Sunday hunting bill on the move (1/30/2004)

A bill that will allow limited Sunday hunting in Maine has been approved by the state House of Representatives and is now in the Senate.

House Bill 308, introduced by Rep. Monica McGlocklin, D-Embden, will allow small game hunting on Sunday on private properties in unorganized territories. It passed the House by a vote of 72 to 63.

The legislation only pertains to Districts 1, 2, 4, and 5 in northwest Maine. The annual fee for a Sunday hunting license will be $15, resulting in an estimated $300,000 in new revenue for the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

Take Action! Maine sportsmen are urged to contact their senators and ask them to support HB 308. Tell them the bill will expand opportunities for sportsmen while raising more revenue for wildlife conservation programs.
