national animal rights organization, has revived an anti-dairy campaign
that encourages college students at schools across the country to put
down the moo juice and pick up a pale ale. PETA sent its “Got Beer?” ad – a spoof on the popular
“Got Milk?” campaign - to campus newspapers affiliated with the top
10 “party schools” and top 10 “stone-cold sober schools” (as
rated by the “Best of Colleges” Princeton Review survey).
The ad, a propaganda piece that encourages young adults to
consume beer rather than milk, features a silhouette of a beer bottle
with the caption, “Got … Beer?!
Better Than Milk. Find
Out More. Milksucks.com.” PETA
proposes that drinking beer is healthier than drinking milk. Some schools ran the ad, giving attention and credit to this
organization that opposes all animal use and has provided funds to a
domestic terrorist organization - Earth Liberation Front. However, the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Military Academy,
University of Florida, University of New Hampshire and University of
Pennsylvania turned down the anti’s ad. This is the second run that PETA has made with this
anti-dairy campaign. In
2000, it pulled the ad after extensive criticism from Mothers Against
Drunk Driving (MADD) and other groups.
MADD maintains its opposition this year. “PETA’s ‘Got Beer?’ campaign is totally irresponsible and the premise is not only ridiculous, but it is unethical,” said MADD National President Wendy Hamilton. CopyrightÓ U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance- www.ussportsmen.org
