Funny thing happened to me last night. I pulled into the driveway late after a shift at work and I saw two beady eyes staring back at me. I thought it was a neighborhood cat, but lo and behold, this morning I inspected the area behind my shed.

No cat tracks, but a freshly dug burrow under the side of my shed. A closer look revealed long black and white hairs caught in the wood...skunk has decided to spend the winter living beneath my tool/fur shed!

Anyone know a good trapper? Hehehehehe.

Cage trap is out and set.

I was about to open a can sardines (my usual bait for just about everything here), but changed my mind when one of the above mentioned neighborhood cats was watching me from the trees. Switched bait to a peanut butter smeared strawberry jelly donut.

If I catch a house cat with that I'll hang up my traps...including the six new ones I just bought on ebay.

Oh, the skunk fell for the peanut-buttery goodness of the jelly donut...and no cats either. Sorry greenhorn, guess I get to keep my traps out a little while longer.

Seems to be more skunks around this fall than anything. I could smell them in the air last night too. It's gonna be a good season.
