So the moose weighed 462 field dressed. Young but tender. He was a tough one, took some bullets, that's for sure. I got him in the head with the 45-70(I love that gun) at 150 yards. My boyfriend used a 30-06 and a 338 as well.

Looks like a good hunt. How far are you from Houlton? I'm hoping to get up there to hunt moose someday.

About an hour. We were in Masardis, above Oxbow. My boyfriend's the one that got the permit. He tried for 10 yrs. Lucky though, some never get it. I was his sub permitee.

Yes it did Mohawk. :) The 30-06 and 338 just poked holes in it. The 45-70 educated it. Yea it is some good stuff. And thanks. One of the best times of my life.

Congratulations on the moose. That size is perfect for eating. I hope you enjoyed your trip to the northern part of the state. I live about one hour north of Masardis, but often work in that area. The pictures of the swamp, almost look like a branch road off the Griswold road.

Lucky you and JJ, that looked like a lot of fun and it seems that Y'all had some good help with handling the moose after the kill. I have always thought taking a moose would be the ULTIMATE DEER HUNT! Thanks for sharing the pictures and story with all of us.

congrats on the moose. I've been applying for 10 years too. Probably never get one.
