I am looking for nutria I would prefer to find them live but would also possibly buy them frozen provided they didnt sit in a trap dead I could take quite a few if things work out . I am in baltimore md area and could travel several hours to pick up . this could be helpful to a trapper in the right area . and if the demand is where i think its going to be it could also help the nuisance problem with nutria Thanks

Graf-What on earth would you want with LIVE NUTRIA? Do you happen to know the state laws on transporting live animals? This could be interesting...let us know.

That's a bit of a strange request for a first post on a forum. I guess I should say welcome and would you care to explain in some detail what you would drive several hours for nutria for. Posts like tis kinda scare me.

I second that motion. What do you want live nutria for? I have a hunch but I would like to hear it from you.

i'm sure he has a good reason for it... although i don't know of any good reasons for driving several hours for a nutria with gas this high. welcome to the forum graffixx.

pigs and rabbits are getting to darn expensive for my snakes so i thought maybe nutria would make a good substitute ,not just one im going through 100 rabbits and pigs a month and i know a handful of other guys just like me and thanks for the welcome

pigs ... exactly what kind a snakes you got.

I breed Reticulate pythons they grow to about 25 ft and at 15ft can eat 1 to 2 20 lb pigs every 10 days

...25 ft that is one big snake and it can eat a 20lb pig wow.

about the nutria... wouldn't you be spending more money if you had to drive a long distance to get the nutria than you would if you just went somewhere and bought some rats. if you really want to stop paying so much for rats and you want to save money why don't you just find a local trapper that traps muskrats. i'm sure they would be more than happy to give you the carcasses, or you could take up muskrat trappin.

That would make a hell of a pair of boots....j/k....to bad you dont live in oregon.....lots of them there....then again lots in La. too

sounds good but muskrats dont get 10 to 20 lbs if i had a few females and a male i could have plenty Im pretty sure they are in my area (i think blackwater)i hope there is a trapper here or close that could help it seems nutria breed and grow much faster than rabbits

Wish you were closer graffix: I could give you a good supply of opossums. It would give me great pleasure to watch those big snakes swallow those grinners!

usually duck tape but not when they are that big maybe up to 7-8 ft

So you breed them to sell? How much does one cost?

a baby can go from 70 to about 1500 dollars each depending on color and genetics anyone come up with help on nutria

Here's some help for you !! To have a live nutria is illegal in this state !! They've spent thousands of dollars to eradicate them and you want to import more !!! Not a very good idea if you ask me, and the fine !! Who knows how much that would be. Good luck on your snake food if you want opposums during the season I get plenty and I'm only a county away ! TS

well how far are you willing to drive can get you all the dead nutria you want but i will not give them live i do run a damage control buisness out of oregon and i remove lots and lots of nutria but it is illegal to transport live nutria in this state. and lone i think 2 660superbears welded together and beafed up would sufice
