Festus and I got permission to trap a hunting lease near his home and Camp Winky, so I went down to the camp and we started setting our traps. First it was very wet, then very cold (for southeast Texas), then it was very warm by the time I had to return home. But all in all we had a great time. Together we finished with 7 bobcat, 4 coyote, 3 red fox, 2 otter, 7 coon, 3 hogs & about 20 possums (vs the 76 we caught in the same period last season). Once I pulled my traps and returned home, Festus stayed and rearranged his traps and picked up at least 2 more coyotes and even caught 3 bobcat in one night. We caught some well marked cats as we did last season. We also snared a rather large boar hog and trapped a couple of smaller ones in legholds. I figure the reason our possum catches were less this season is due to the fact that Festus and his wife gave me the gift of 2 dozen PIT pans and I was able to set the poundage on my longsprings and miss many of the possums. I'll have to admit that Festus smoked me on otter again this season....he caught both that were taken. Both were very large males. The scenes of Camp Winky before daybreak was the sight I saw every morning while waiting for Festus to arrive and us start the run of our traps.

Swamp Rat and Festus looked like they had FUN on their trapping adventures.!! Great action all around and I bet they didn't miss catching 70+ grinners! Interesting to see the porker all wrapped up tight, a fringe benefit of trapping in the east TX "bush". You all seemed to catch more reddies than in years past ad those first 2 yotes look like they had good color! Some pretty bcats as usual!!! I always enjoy seeing the photo gallery!!!

The third pic of the coyote makes me think not all your coyotes are ugly. Man it looked like you two had a great time.

TT, actually our coyotes are a lot like our trappers...all aren't ugly....just most are.
