I have been raising a garden for 23 years, and helped my dad garden for years before then. I have never, ever had a good crop of taters. My dad never had a good crop of taters and eventually quit planting them. We always figured it was the soil.
Last winter I told my wife I was going to try something different, and if it didn't work, I was going to quit planting them.
I had always cut my seed potatoes, just like my dad did, and grandparents did, and everyone else I know. This year I did not cut the seed potatoes, I planted every one of them whole. It was the only thing I did different .
Almost every hill grew, and every hill had big , beautiful taters. Much nicer than the ones you buy in the store that are hollow in the middle or rot in a week.
I will never cut my seed potatoes again, I will always plant them whole. Hope this tip helps someone like me who couldn't grow good taters.
God bless everyone.
