Hopefully it won't be long before Im out west and trapping again and have something to post on this wonderful site besides my griping about the government. Even I got tired of my posts. And the fact I couldn't use the profanity I normally use when discussing our government, well....
It wasn't as much fun posting that sort of info as it was posting my VAST   knowledge of trapping beaver on the Musselshell.

Anyhoooo, I picked up this little 4x8 home made trailer in Oregon before I came here to Fla. It was pretty rough with some of the plywood rotting away so a friend here put new plywood sides on it and I spent the last week or so making a top for it and painting it. The top underneath has a 1x4 frame for support and makes a lip so the wood doesn't slide. Middle supported cross ways by a 2x4.
I enjoyed making it in spite of the fact my only saw is a coping saw, but it worked.

The photo below was taken from the back corner and really distorts the trailer. The two hasps are actually centered in the middle length of the trailer. Just in case anyone was thinking WTH? lol

I also made it so I could mount my spare for my trailer and also for my car, onto the trailer. WHO IN THE Blankety blank blank came up with mounting the spare under the car???

Im pretty sure every thing I own, all my earthly belongings will fit into the trailer. So hopefully around the second week of May I'll be pulling out and heading west and trapping again this fall and winter... yea !!!

Oh, and a heads up on Baer "self priming outdoor paint" it's not. Home Depot is well aware of that problem now. Seems they keep getting complaints about the paint not self priming even though it states it is on the label. But they keep selling it anyway.

Nice to see you back on MG! In your opening statement, you mentioned trapping in Colorado. You do know that they have severely restricted trapping in that state. Too many California liberals migrated there and they came with an agenda to turn that beautiful state into a tree huggers paradise. I have an aunt and a couple of cousins living in the Fort Collins area. As for the mountains of Idaho, well, that would be more to your liking I believe. My dream trip is to someday do some Elk and Mule Deer hunting and then trap for martin in the high country. Unfortunately, my wife does not look at that as the vacation of choice on her agenda.

Yes I had heard about Colorado and it's trapping laws.

I understand that snaring is acceptable so might try my hand at that. I always did prefer snaring to leg/body hold traps. Might snare me some coyotes or if nothing else rabbits to eat. I'll check into what's allowed once I get there. And see if I can find someone else who snares/takes fur.

With the new gun laws in Colorado I probably wouldn't even be going into that socialist state if it weren't for my son being there.
As always, thanks so much for the well wishes, they are much appreciated.
Ya'll are a great group of guys. mg

Trapper Rick, jeez, why is it that the guys who have the same idea of a great vacation as I do, are all taken !!! lol

I lived in central Mt. for many years and worked at an archery Elk hunting club. The mule deer and elk are in abundance. Fantastic area for hunting mule deer, white tail, antelope and elk. Area 410 in Petroleum county is a popular destination for hunters. Beware of gumbo!

This should make you drool !!!

Im loading my little green trailer. So far I've removed my belongings from only the storage shed and unfortunately the trailer is 3/4 full already. Now comes time to rid myself of half of what I own, which will be difficult because I thought i was down to things I "couldn't live without ". sigh. The life of a vagabond.
If all goes well I'll be leaving swamp land on Monday. Not sure what my internet situation will be like in Sugar City, looks expensive as are all rural areas.
So ya'll take care, stay safe, and happy trapping till we meet again. Huggs, mg

:? I for one never like parting with my "things"....do the best you can MG. We hope you don't write us off and are able to post from time to time as you relocate. Public libraries usually have computers for the public. Be careful in your travels.
