I'd save them till next year if I were you, and sell them at the fur aution. You might also think about keeping your first thing you caught and tan it. I sold my first raccoon I caught (which was the first thing I ever caught) and I'm still kicking myself for it. You can pick up some lure from www.nwtrappers.com for near to nothing. I'd stick to Hawbakers lure too.

Don't worry about that. It's your first catch. It'll be important to you later.

Sounds like a plan. I'd save the second for next year and find you an auction when your ready to sell next years catch.

Beats me. It wouldn't be worth it to drive to one for one possum and a couple rabbits this year though. Talk to your state trapping association, they'll know. I'd join your state trapping association too, they might have trapping forums like this, but for your state. Plus if they do auctions, you won't have to pay as much to sell.

When the Tennessee Fur Harvesters Association has auctions they take 10% of your earnings if you aren't a memeber. If you are then it's 4%. They don't make you pay anything up front, just whenever the buyers write a check it comes out then.

You don't have to you can sell to local people like we're talking about in the other thread. You can also ship them to the NAFA (http://nafa.ca/), but I wouldn't reccommend shipping anywhere. If they give you a crap price you can't say no.
