Welcome to the forum DoOver! What types of animals are you planning on targeting? If you don't see much activity in this section check out the Trap Line or Campfire pages, as that is where most of the discussion is held. Good luck on your adventures.

Hey DoOver. I'm in NY, but a bit farther north than you. Just remember, we live in a state that has laws about everything and most of them don't make too much sense.

Any ways thanks for the welcomes. I am going to concintrate on water sets as I live on a big creek and the Delaware River.

ADK how far up are you? I read NYS DEC bought more land up that way? My wife and I fish Lake Ontario and I have a friend with a camp on Scroon Lake. I have never been to the Adirondacks. I have been to the logging show in Boonville and looked east. :D

Hey Trapper Chris.
I haven't had much time to look at this whole site, but I will. I plow snow so time is hard to come by in the winter, thank GOD. My gramps and uncles hunted the Great State Of Maine back in the 30's , he said there ways a lot of woods there. :D
Are those scores trappings for this season?

DoOver,
Yes that is the tally for this season. I didn't get out as much as I had hoped, but I had a pretty good go of it anyway. We do have lots of woods up here, and I am glad, because it gives me a chance to work as well as play in the great outdoors. Don't bother with deer up here any more though, as the last couple of years have almost wiped them out. Good luck with the trapping and the snow plowing, as we are getting hit with more snow right now, supposed to get a foot or better.

Yeah, the state's always buying land up here. 6 million acres in the park boundary, and the state owns or has access deals on about half that. I used to live not too far north of Boonville, in a little town called Croghan (perhaps you have heard of their bologna?). We went to the Lumberjack Days a few different times. You want something neat to see, hit the Ice Festival in Saranac Lake in February http://saranaclake.com/carny.shtml .
Anyway, I'm in Potsdam now. It only takes me about 10 minutes to get inside the park boundaries. I don't trap in the park, but just outside of it. This is my first year trapping, and I've been trying off and on since October, but nothing so far. I am learning, and I'm determined to catch something by the end of the season. 8)
