i finally got my otter back from the taxidermist. he costs $330 so i wanna show him off every chance i get. lol i caught him on january 1, 2009 beside a pond where ive caught lots of possums this year. he was caught in a live trap using sardines & weighed 15lbs. & 6 ozs. (also caught a coon in a leg trap 20 yds. down on the levee that day) its my 1st & only 1 to date. i didnt even know there was otters in this pond. lol a couple miles from the lake & no real big creeks around. i got my blue cites tag on him & the taxidermists put a bass in his mouth. ive got a thing for open mouth mounts. its the only way. lol i now have caught a possum, otter, coon, skunk, rabbit, & bobcat in a live trap. lol i should go for a grand slam & catch them all in 1. call it the cage match slam. i dont know its just a funny coincidence. lol

Commander, this was (is) the heaviest otter I have ever caught and caught it in a #11 LS. Caught a female in the same area that was a bit longer but not as heavy. Can't remember the correct weight and the journal with that info is in the possession of my youngest son. This was the second otter for the guy to mount that did the taxidermy work. Must have done a fairly good job....the mount is getting pretty old.

i always wanted to b a taxidermist since i was a kid. ive even ordered a few things from the catalogs. ive never mounted anything but i once tanned a squirrel, coyote, & bobcat hybrid. lol no one knows for sure what it is. it has a bobtail & spots on the belly so i thought it was a bobcat. i will take a picture of him & show u & see what yall think. lol anyways my hides dont turn out as soft as i think they should b.
