im 15 and sometimes i have a friend that wants to go and im running about 40-50 footholds and about 14 connies and my thinking is the more traps are out the more chance you have if they are quality sets

The biggest line 1 have ever run was between 70-80 traps (legholds and connies). I have about 200 traps in all.

i guess im way behind yall. lol my cousin was wanting to set more leg traps though this year. i guess i will attempt to get up to 30 before nov. this being our 1st dedicated year to trapping we had lotsa fun. i got a canoe & we had some creeks picked out to set traps down out of it. i cut my hand skinning a coon real bad so i couldnt paddle but how far in between would u put traps down a creek bank. i figure 100yds but ive heard a mile. lol

I have heard of people setting traps for coyotes and bobcats (James Lord Trapping bobcats DVD) within a few feet of each other. They just stake them on short chain so they wont tangle. I also had a beaver, otter, and a coon all in a 100 yard stretch of creek this year. Could of been luck. I dont know, I am pretty new to this myself.

I was trapping varmints out of my corn field one summer and caught a coon on one hill and a skunk on the other. They could not reach one another, but undoubtedly the skunk sprayed the poor ol' coon all night long. I killed the skunk and put the coon in a holding cage and it died from what must have been "over exposure" to skunk essence!

Funny story Swamp. I set traps close together sometimes amd other times further apart. I have caught animals a lot of time within just feet of eachother.
