What are the best baits for raccoons and fox in the Twin Tiers area of pennsylvania. I live in a patch off woods surrounded by soybeans, corn and, hay fields. I am pretty much totally new to trapping but grew up with hunting. I know that the coon and fox are in my woods and the fields around me.

any fox gland lure , and fox pee ......coon sardines, mackerl any kind of fishy bait really.... you can buy baits called all call which are used to catch everything though idk how well they work but it would be worth a shot if money is really tight

I'v done well with Legget's K9 exciter. just a small squirt at the bottom of a dirt hole has done well on Red and Grey fox.

Don't rule out vanilla extract. Excellent curiosity scent.

murry trapper supply compnay has some really good stuff you can try too. i been using the predagetter 2 in my dirtholes with a little murry #300 and fox urine and doing great from pa-maine-alaska. Haven't tried any gland lures yet, but its on the to do list. For coon we used to use jelly bread, spicy chicken wing (just the bones), any oily fish, herring oil works great, marshmellows. You can be pretty creative for coon.

This is what has worked for me.

Raccoon

1. Dog Proof traps
Bait = Coon Candy
Lure = Carmen's Midnight Raccoon

2. Coil Spring Traps
Bait = Marshmellow
Lure = Carmen's Midnight Raccoon

3. Cage Trap
Bait = Large Marshmellow
Lure = Peppermint Oil

Fox(Red and Gray)
Bait = Fresh bacon(not the store bought stuff, fresh from the butcher) or Venison chunks
Lure = KAATZ Bros 1800 Predator
Urine = 3 squirts of Red Fox Urine

Coyote
Bait = Fresh Bacon(see fox) or Venison chunks
Lure = KAATZ Bro 1800 Predator
Urine = 3 squirts of Red Fox Urine

Bobcat
Bait = Whole freshly trapped house mouse
Lure = KAATZ Bros 1800 predator
Urine = 3 squirts of Red Fox Urine

These combos have worked flawlessly for me over the years. Using these combos this season I was able to take:

Raccoon = 21
Red Fox = 3
Gray Fox = 1
Coyote = 2
Possum = 24
Bobcat = 1
