Today was the district 5 fur sale. I didn't go because my daughter had a couple of basketball games today. But, I did hear from another guy that mentioned that it didn't go well. The buyers were not offering much of anything for the fur, one guy brought in 78 red fox and he went home with all of them because he was only offered $11.00 each for them and that is fleshed and stretched! This is only one opinion so once I talk to a few more people and see what they have to say and as soon as I get the figures on what was sold and for how much I will post it.

Another guy from Bedford County listed what he sold at the auction. This was his total.
3 reds @ 12.00 each
6 grays @ 17.00 each
20 coon @ 14.50 each
9 coon @ 5.00 each
4 rats @ 6.10 each

Not very good at all but I think he got a decent price for the gray fox considering they were not projecting a good year for them. Then again if that's all the buyers are offering you have 2 choices, sell for what you can or take it all back. I never have my expectations too high when it comes to selling fur but I gotta admit after all the work and money spent to get the fur to that point and not recieve what you think it may be worth is a little hard to take.

Talked to a few more people and everybody had the same reaction that they thought the sale was a total rip off. That's a shame because I am a member of this district and everybody had such negative view of the sale that it may hurt in the long run as far as having another one and places to sell fur are getting few and far between. :(
