Welcome to the site. I'm in Texas and laws very from state to state, so I'll have to leave your question for someone in your neck of the woods, though. Any other questions, feel free to ask. Welcome again.

I'm in louisburg I'm also new to trapper but i know that if you own 10 arce or more you can trap that land with no license. If you want to sell the fur you must get tags. all the hunting stores have them they are $2.50 a tag

Danny, the best input i can give you is to go get a state trapping license ($25). This will allow you to trap anywhere in the state. You can buy a county trapping license for a little less but you can only trap in your county of residence. Also look into getting a game lands license if you plan on trapping game lands. Either one of these trapping license will allow you to trap all the furbearers. Pick up a regulation digest at wal-mart or where ever you go to buy your license and read what the furbearers are and the legal methods of trapping them. In the digest the trapping section is between the fishing and the hunting regulations.

Good luck,

One Leg
