Ok, I am gonna start trapping beaver next season for some local farmers. Is it good to plan this far ahead and start getting supplies around? I have never trapped these things and I am gonna buy half a dozen 330 magnums and I already have 3 220's. I will probally set for mink and such also so I will be putting out leg holds. I was planning on putting my 330's at the bottom of some slides and crossovers. I was gonna put my 220's at the holes and maybe some 330's. Is otter and mink gonna be working that dam as well? If so, is there a way to set for them and not get a beaver in one of my smaller traps? I really don't think it is a wise idea to set for mink with a #4.

I really wouldn't use the 220 for beaver . otter will be fine as they are sleek you will really be pushing the limits of the 220 for beaver I have heard of them being caught in them if you do I would give it plenty of tie wire so they can get out to deeper water you will have to get a head catch or small beaver but for the big boys and girls they may just leave with your trap or it will be just empty and sprung . tie it good could even make it a drownder set but your gonna have to let them run to deeper water with it around there head . can you use snares they would be much better beaver are real stalky and strong animals 280 will get the beaver but still I would recomend 330 or snares or the #4 with a drownding set up . there fun to catch not fun to carry out. have fun and be safe.
