I am building a box cubby for fisher. I am using a 220. I am cutting the slots in the sides of the box and notice that if the slots are not deep, the trap will launch outward as the springs push against the end of the slots. With deeper slots and the springs placed in the middle, they will have room to travel in both directions and the trap will close within it's own space. Which is better? Are there advantages to having the body grip trap launch toward the animal? Might the animal get pushed back and lower the chance of a clean catch?

I am looking for information, opinions, anything to help with the design.
