What set did you catch the beaver in. And how big was it. I love beaver stories. I got my but kicked the first 2 years of trying to learn to trap them and were to find them. So When a new beaver trapper try's his luck i try and help as much as possible. Congrats on your beaver :D

A 330 den set I've got 4 dens in a drainage creek in 2 mi. of the same ditch, 2 I can set the other 2 I can't without a chainsaw & a boat and
diving suit. The h2o is too deep can't find the entrance on 1 & the other
has a feed pile brush pile in front or it. been setting slides feed pocket
holes in the bank & making castor mounds so far 1 40lb'er -220 coni
1 20lb'er 330coni 1 18lb'er 330 coni. no luck with dive sticks keep gittin
tripped they actually put a bunch of green brush on the down stream
side of it. foot hold traps were gettin tripped didn't have them oriented for his foot. I've been doing this for almost a month now this is my 1st yr at beavers & I'm having a blast but like you they're driving me c-r-a-z-y.

Hey mike thanks for the imfo I am a first year trapper and this time of year all I have is time on my hands so I have been hitting really hard.Found a place loaded with beaver and have out three sets so far.No luck on the beaver but I am picking up a few rats in what I thought was a beaver bank den.I still think it is because all the rats I have caught are going in not coming out.I also got a coon in another hole on the bank.Today I had a 220 tripped but no critter, safety hooks were still on the springs daa.I just put out my first 330 today so I hope tommarow I will have the beaver but stories like your make me think that these things can be as challenging as any other criiter out there. Not going crazy yet but I have a feeling it will happen soon!

Hey wildwv make sure ya pull them safteys back to the coil in the springs
I figured this out on my own. if it's left near where the spring slides on the trap jaws/frame it can fliparound & catch when tripped, thought I was doing that too but got to playing with 1 in the garage while I wuz thinking
"What If" yep bout 1 out of 10 it would flip &snag the spring crazy huh.
