Hello, been awhile since I have posted but still at it despite the prices. I am curious what y'all see when trapping coyotes regarding the moon phase. Some around here that trap tell me they see no difference, while others barley set on a full moon. I am still out on this as I have been trying for a few years to compile data. What do y'all see?

P.S. Swamp keep everyone in line !

Hey, I have not posted in a long time either, site kinda has been dead ish, like fur prices...

I see no correlation of yote patterns and the moon phase. Call me a skeptic, but that holds true to almost anything related to moon phases. Some plant by it, poop by it, call the weather by it, call their granny based on it, fish based on it, and no doubt some will swear yotes follow a lunar rule that is only not mystifying to them.

Just my opinion, but I see nothing different as the moon changes phasing.

Good to hear you is alive Benelli. :D
Only thing I've noticed about coyotes and a full moon is, not as many show up around the house after a full moon. Coyotes eat no matter the moon phase.

TNT glad to hear from yah! Seems like the moon is affecting my catch rate but we had so much rain this year it alone dictated a lot of my success and failures. Would be nice to have a normal winter season for once so I could put this to rest in my own mind.

Holy cow! Where have you guys been?! Glad to see you back on. Yes, the activity on hear has really scaled back since fur prices took a nosedive.

Back in mid-November I set a bunch of traps that week and had a terrible week which was during a full moon. I've noticed for years that the moon phase affected my trapping.

Makes no difference to me. They still eat and drink and lifes goes on with yotes. Have no problems catching them what ever the moon is doing. I do believe moon phase does play a roll in some things but just not yotes.

Set yesterday, 1 3 legged coyote 2 skunks and a grinner. Not my best first night but hey! Shot another coyote while checking the last trap. It was working the set when I pulled up this morning. He never even looked at me.

I have seen a correlation with the moon and snares. I have seen more refusals on snares when it's full moon. I guess they are seeing the shine on the lock.

Last night I had five sets tripped and one pullout. It was definitely all coyote movement you could see the tracks. I think it's the same one I have been after for awhile. He definitely has my game down. The pull out was a different yote. Gonna through him a change up in the next few days. I call it the double dirt hole. It is two dirt holes facing each other with a mound in the center with the trap bedded there. Works almost ever time. The moon was dark last night by the way.

Last few checks have went untouched. Today the check was optimistic, but only another black and white tail flipper. The weather is warming here and the yotes are running but just not to my traps. Lol! I changed out my baits and locations today in hopes of a full bed of fur tomorrow. Fingers crossed.......

I find it tougher to catch coyotes this time of year with bait. Along about now I run pretty much 100% flat sets due to the breeding and territorial response that you get. Also, the mafia set will catch enough to keep you busy skinning. Coyotes can't hardly resist good gland now and as spring gets closer good urine by itself will make catches.

100% agreed Jeff! Mafia is my go to, very deadly and will catch even the toughest of them.

Dark moon last night, 1 yote, 1 fox released and 2 grinders. The activity defiantly picked up last night but I kind of screwed up I changed up scents at sets. Hopefully tomorrow morning should be interesting. I am using flat sets and dirt holes along with a few scent posts. The Minnesota red and fox pee is pulling the coyotes in!
