Got our Nafa cheques today :--o . Not good as we all expected from Nafa. Two top marten for $112.00 and went down hill fast. Ended up with $54.40 average over all. Top mink was $20.19 and average was $17.26. Red fox was poor with only one selling $26.00. All other fur sits till next sale.

Yeah, I've been watching all the interesting left over tidbits of a check that people over on Tman were sharing. At least mine was still above 3 digits (barely) in front of the decimal point. Paid off a pledged charitable contribution with it that's been out there hanging for a while. Rather it go for something like that than just paying part of a bill...

Pitiful to say the least. Next sale they are gonna sell rats with no limit.....? What's that all about? Hold them until someone wants to pay. They take up no room......I know a lot of NY rat guys are pissed.

Yeah, I would be too, especially with Easterns instead of our Centrals.

I guess some of the lessons to be learned is in a down market, is to hold some your stuff back, especially if it doesn't take up not a lot of freezer space. Keep some percentage of your harvest going during any given year but not all of it. Most farmers around here have learned to sell their corn and soybeans on futures contracts. Always have some going to market every couple of money. The roller coaster gets smoothed out a bit which might not be as exciting as the boom and bust ride but maybe less stressful in the long run...

I know the suits at NAFA have reasons for what they do. I assume they are highly educated in their professions and make decisions that they believe will benefit trappers in the long run. What gets me all riled up is they do not share their reasonings with us. They leave the trapper in the dark and let us make our own assumptions.

Bang on Bud. Fha had their 2 day sale which ended today. 3 select large otter brought me $75.00. Still have some fur at Nafa which in a couple days they can try and sell. I cant see next year being any different from this year.
