Not bad for your first run of the year. Good luck to you for the next and the rest of the season.

those white fiberglass rods have sudden valley coni clips on them.adjustable for water depth!!! not good on hard bottoms tho,i'm thinking cementing a brick on the bottom to solve that problem!

Thanks C.C.! Neat pixs all. I'd probably cry watching some of my sets with a trail cam.

Are you areas a mix of both private and state forest land?? North-central PA was the first area that we studied when I started my job 15 years ago. I used to have all kinds of county stats down that might help us understand what we were seeing in the satellite imagery. Can't remember if your county was completely in what is called the NC Appalachians ecoregion or split between that one and the Western Allegheny but I remember doing lots of maps that included Venango County...

Almost don't count except in some games like horseshoes and washers. Good trailcam information. Do you happen to have a video option on your trailcam?

I always say there are 2 major hurdles to have to jump over in trapping. The first one is gaining the ability to get on location and on animals paths, keeping the traps in a high visitation probability, and doing it consistently. The very next hurdle most of us go through is actually getting the animals in the trap. I think thats what swamp is referring too about being close. I ended up seeing track most of the time showing animals unintentionally eluding my board strechers instead of a trail cam but its the same. So I figured I couldnt keep doing the same thing or the same results is what id get. I began to use more subtle guiding, which for me led to a different variation of the two sets i was using. So eventually I started scoring consistently with a modified dirt hole and modified scent post. I've never had to change once I got past that disheartening hurdle and period. Though nobody can claim 100% catch to visitation, im confident that when an animal comes across my traps, i've got a real good hunkering im gonna be skinning. Thing is, for the most part with each animal type that is targetted, a new hurdle must be jumped and we gotta figure out the best way to get them into that trap. The agony that you feel with the video cam is what will spur you on to becoming a better and better trapper. Seems if we dont suffer a little bit, we just aren't likely to learn and change. I believe you have a reason, and I know you will over come this.

thought since I'm not trapping to hard now(deer season) I'd show what most of my ground is like here in northwest pa.as you can see, most disposable stakes are out! lots of rocks, above ground and below. few fields around, mostly logging roads. the glaciers came thru and really churned this place up!

The picture reminds me of Doc's trapping territory down in WV. He complains about the rocks but it looks to me like he has plenty of dirt holding them in place.

Looks tailor made for heavy drags with most of the material laying right there. Old hurricane fence works good for bundling rocks up too. My old place in pike county looked like that. Headache to drive. As take in most places but heavy log or bundled rock drags worked great. Saved some of the set locations too. Miss the rock cubbies. For a decade some produced fur year after year.

my new system to hang strechers. unistrut with pipe clamps!these are for 1/2 and 3/4" pipe. 1/4" bolt holds it to the stretcher. a quarter turn removes it from the unistrut, or to put it back on.i like my fur to hang nose down, grease drops off the nose, not into the tail area.nicer looking fur=more profit!

Doing great on your trapping, fleshing, boarding and even on your inventive notions when you have nothing else to do!
