I have always heard that a dirt hole set is useless in the woods. Is this true? Also when trapping cats in wooded areas what set do yall normaly use. Also where is the best place to look for cat toilets. Thanks matt

umm....i havent really trapped cats that much..but from what iv seen and heard..mostly use cubby sets in wooded areas. that is what i use anyway..i only see toilets on the sides of roads or trail probly because its where i walk the most and its easier to see there!

Dirt holes are anything but useless in the woods. I have a great deal of luck with woodland dirthole sets for grey fox and bobcats. I usually look for a large limestone outcropping or rock to use as my backing, I dig out a nice hole underneath like something is burrowing under there, and then I bed the trap at the edge of the rock. If there is a trail coming through the area, I'll also bed a trap on the top of the hump, as the foxes like to get up a little bit to look in before they approach.

I've also been very successful in using rotting stumps as cubbies.
