Im looking for a quick and easy way to "dye " my traps. What if I just paint them and then "weather" them? Any ideas?

I have yet to see how this holds up erik, but i sprayed a bunch of my rat traps with flat black rustoleum spray paint and daaaaang they look good! If it stays on as well as speed dip, i'm saying good by to the dip.

I've dipped most of mine for a number of years but recently, I've acquired another dozen DP's, half dozen 220's, & two #1 coils. I just hit them all with some flat black rustoleum and hope they will produce. I'm sure that they'll have to be redone at the end of the season since most traps do take a beating but thats all part of trapping.

I paint all my body grippers. I still dye the footholds since I target 'yotes and fox. I'm considering painting a few of my footholds next year and testing the theory. I was going to do it this year, but ran out of time. I wanted to let them air out for a month or so. I paint with rustoleum brown primer then a coat of flat brown.

does anyone know if a trap coated with rustoleum spray paint can be dipped in hot wax without the paint coming off in the wax? i tried this once with a speed dipped trap and it turned my wax black. not what i was wanting.

never tried it, with the paint you don't need to wax.the water protection is all ready on the trap with the paint on it...
