thanks for the great site its the best trapping site ive found yet . and ive been doing alot of searching lately .im espefcially proud to see how you guys and gals treat each other ,with respect.its hard to find a part of society like this nowadays.
now my story i first got into trapping around 11 years old by a retired neighbor that didnt like how i was raised ,so he befriended me and another neighbor kid and got us into everything outdoors fishing turtling trapping and hunting .he taught us everything with respect for each other and the outdoors .he kept us out of alot of trouble . he helped us sell our critters ,at a reduction but ,unskinned which kept us interested in trapping because we just prepped set and harvested which at that age was what interested us .he adopted us into the outdoors lifestyle .
as we grew older we kind of grew apart but we never showed it around our mentor. we didnt want to upset him as he was getting worse in his health we just wanted to enjoy the last years of his life with him.
well i moved about a month before he died and wasnt supplied to run a trap line anymore .
its now 20 years later 4 kids and a back surgery 5 years ago but now im ready to pass it onto a younger generation so its buying time, teaching time and of course trapping time im so glad that they have a combo junior tag in pa for hunting and trapping or i probably wouldve never considered all the health benfits to me and the memories itll create for my boys 15 and 6 i just hope i can pass it on as well as it was passed to me so thanks for the refresher course you guys and gals are offering with this site it brought out alot of personal memories ive long forgotten.

Well welcome aboard, just remember though, your not alone on being new here. Must have been fun learning from someone who knew. I'm 15 and I am painfully teaching myself.

Swartz-- Thanks for the kind words. I try to run a nice site here, hopefully it will continue on far into the future. It is contributions like yours, the giving back to your kids, that will keep our traditions alive, just as your neighbor kept those traditions alive by teaching you what he knew. Keep the faith and keep posting here. Keep on asking questions, learning and teaching the younger generations as we get older (well... try not to get older... I know I feel it some days) :) .
