Headed out to NY to visit a good friend I have known since 1969. He has a farm that, according to him, is covered with whitetails. Hope to get a decent buck. Will try to get on here while there, but no promises. Talk to you all in about ten days.

Well, I am back, if anyone is interested. Hunted for five days and saw quite a few does, fawns, and one small buck. Let them all walk. Last afternoon, day six, my friend assigned a doe tag to me. Set up on a field where we had seen does three days in a row. Saw them coming off the hill, in the trees, headed for the field. Two does and yearlings came into the field and did a fast walk right at me. I was back in the brush, but I thought I would be spotted if they came any closer. At forty yards, the lead doe put her head down for some forage and I shot her in the head. Dropped like a ton of bricks. Second after she hit the ground, I saw a decent buck, sixty yards behind her. He turned and last I saw of him, he was bounding back up the hill. Doe would taste better then a swollen neck old buck anyway. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Had a great visit with my old friend. We met in college, way back in '69.
