Got a sudden storm yesterday afternoon. 6 inches of rain then less then 2 hours.

Update: 10:09 Dryden Sudden Storm
Posted on Friday, August 12, 2016 18:31 PM

Dryden residents are now starting to assess the damage of a sudden and unexpected rain storm Friday afternoon.

Some home rain gauges are reporting 152-millimetres in just under two hours.

Insurance companies are already reporting claims coming in, several businesses and homes are under water and sub pumps are working overtime.

The impact is wide ranging.

Local residents are being asked to stay off the street.

The King Street underpass is closed until further notice and the CP Rail track has been impacted.

There has been no official comment from CP on the extent of the damage.

Highway 601 between Highway 17 and Theil Road is closed until further notice.

Gordon Road from Highway 17 to Highway 594 is closed indefinitely due to flooding.

A number of other city roads are also under water.

Olsen Landing Road is open to one lane, while Thiel Road is also open to one lane.

Six inches in two hours.....That sure enough would be called a frog drowner. Hope you didn't get damage from that storm. Those heavy down pours can seemingly come out of nowhere.

Things were dry this morning down stairs so went berry picking with the kids and baby. Got home around 2 pm and had water in basement. Not much maybe 10 gallons i sucked up. Others i heard have 3 to 4 inches in basement. Never seen a storm like this before that dropped so much water in such a short time. No TT i was not fishing off the front step

To much for me chief. Temps are cool now and another few weeks will be into fall. Will be glad for freeze up and the white stuff. Garden is just about done and the grass cutting has slowed big time. Time for the smell off powder :--D

Sorry to hear about your water situation wolf. Seems like everyone stays dry and then a flood. Maybe it will move on out and you can start getting ready for fall.

Nothing major, just a few rugs from downstairs. Temps are cool now,6 Celsius over night and high of 20 tomorrow. But we keep getting rain every other day. Beavers are liking it though.
