We have mostly elm trees around our house. Last summer the Elm Beetles came
Out towards the end of summer and turned the mature elm leaves into what looked like lace. We thought for sure the patio tree was dead but surprisingly the tree grew a new set of leaves . this year the tender leaves are just unfurling and already the beetles
Are .making lace of them. :(

Get hold of the county agent. He should know what to use for a spray. About the only way to get them under control, that I know of. Might be some predator/prey set up that might work.

All of the snow that is falling in Colorado should have taken care of the bugs this weekend.
