Hi Rem!!

It was a beautiful morning and day here, lost of vitamin D outside. Big blizzard coming in late tonight. It will be a whole different ball game come tomorrow...

Another day I have been able to get vertical. Wonder if the old ground hog will see his shadow today. Don't really put any stock in that notion, but it gives folks something to hope for, and it was a good movie. Have a good day everybody.

Good day here, more snow melted. I think the groundhog is about as accurate as the weatherman.

doc,

What other job could you have, be correct only 50% of the time, and stay employed? Weather guessers are about like politicians, they just are incorrect and not out and out fabricators of the truth.

Politicians are born liars. At least the weatherman has a 50/50 chance of getting things right. Just like trump in Iowa. What a smart *** stick out the tongue episode. Billionaire trump just showed his grade 3 mentality after his loss.

We've only had about 3 weeks of winter here. Nov. , Dec. , and early January felt like spring. Fine with me, takes a lot less firewood. 8) 8)

It was a good morning. Nice winter weather, mid-20s, sunshine, no to little wind. I needed more allowance money this week so broke down and took in some of my scrapped out/cleaned up tv & monitor yokes and degaussing cable as # 2 copper as well as some yellow brass. Worked my west across town at a couple of thrift shops for resale items, paid on my cold storage unit because "my" shelves in our freezer in the garage are full, picked up a satellite tv dish for scrap on the way to the bro's place. Caught a still nice furred coon at bro's but probably too little to send into the auctions so it will end up in my smaller hides I will tan this spring for sales to crafters and such. Brought 5 dozen farm eggs from their place. Life is good!!

How much were the eggs? At the local farmer's market, one outfit must have had gold plated ones. They were asking $6.50 per dozen.

Rem- If they're asking $6.50 and someone is actually paying them that much, more power to them. I'd be a bit embarrassed at that price. I mostly sell to people at work.

I used to buy the eggs from bro and SiL for $1.25 a doz and sell for $2.50. After the big laying hen kill off last year, I raised the price to $3 a doz to my customers and give my SiL $1.75. They're not producing as much as they did in the past. They should have rotated out about a third of the hens last year with new birds because these hens only go full throttle for about 2 years after reaching maturity (takes about 4+ months from chicks) and then they ramp down in laying. So, I think they have about 22-24 hens (about a dozen down from their peak) and if all were firing on all cylinders, they should be getting about 16-18 eggs a day. They're getting about half of that now. Don't know if they're getting a bit tired of it or will revive the flock next spring. Bro bought an incubator ($125) and tried it once this past fall on about 3 dozen eggs without success. Hasn't tried it again so far. Sort of an expensive learning lesson. He's been building an Finnish dry sauna out of clear western cedar in their "breezeway" between the garage and the rest of the house the past month so the chickens have been off of his mind.

Morning all. Lovely day here.

NonPC,

I thought $6.50 was way over the top, but they must have been finding someone with more money than sense. I'm old enough to remember buying eggs for 29 cents a dozen, at the store, and sales of 19 cents a dozen, just before Easter. Also, remember gas selling at 19 cents a gallon. Was back in the mid 60's and I was getting $5 a day as a farm laborer. Those were ten hour days and was happy to have the work.

farm -raised eggs here go for $ 3 - $4 / dozen.

Brings back memories Rem. I remember making hay all day for $ 10 a day . The good old days . you can't get a kid to lift a hay bale these days.
