Work slowed up a bit so I decided to try to bag a spring turkey. It was a beautiful day. Although it was mostly cloudy but a real warm 65 degrees at 5:45 AM. I called in 3 real nice gobblers but they stayed just out of range of my Remington 11-87. They hung up and I quit calling. I'll give them a try tomorrow morning.

I did get some pictures after the action. I was hunting real close to the windmills.

I walked up on this woodcock. It was not real eager to leave the area, I'm guessing it had a nest near by.

Sounds like a good day in the field Rick. Those timber-doodles can make a man have a light heart attack when they fly up in your face. Enjoyed the pictures very much.

Good that you were around toms, sometimes its nice and cool to just be around birds. Hope you get one, good luck.

I seen the strangest thing with a woodcock here several weeks ago while we were shroom hunting. Busted a hen up off her nest and out come three little chicks. They looked mostly feathered but weren't able to fly yet apparently. Anyway, when I busted her up all three raised their wings up as high as they could get them and went running as fast as their little legs would take them through the brush, all the while making this little whining meeee sound. I hadn't ever seen anything quite like that.
