A widow of one of my uncles passed a little while back. Last week a cousin brought me a large box full of my Gramps stuff. Theres another journal of his, written like a diary. Ive been reading it the last few days and one episode/ story where he had a run in with Wolfers was mesmerizing for me but its rough, in writing and actions. Its nearly 20 pages from start to finish. My quandary, i can eliminate the racial tones, and possibly edit/censor some words like d***. Should i send it to a moderator first? Is there even any interest in reading it? I couldnt put it down. Words today that are considered racial slurs were common language then. With my typing ability and patience it would probably take 5 or 6 postings... Any ideas? Comments? Advice?

If you could edit out any profanity and/or racial slurs, etc. (just use **** or something like that) I think it would be ok. It sounds like an interesting read.

I replied TT. I'll email you the R rated version. I started transcribing it and editing it for "public" view. It may take awhile to get it all typed on here. As i get it "cleaned" up I'll put a page or two at a time on here.. Thank you. And thank for the reply KD

I would be interested in reading it as well. I was raised by a logger so I have a good idea of the terminologies involved lol.

I'd like to read the unedited version too. Racism isn't just limited to the dark skinned varieties............. we hillbillies have been discriminated against too.

Back, I'd be happy to read through whatever you may have concerns about it and give some feedback. Feel free to send a copy on, if you wish.

Back, if you have access to MS Word, I would write it there. Easy to save and easy for spell checking if you care about that. I'd start off with the original, save it as that, make a copy, rename it, and then make the second, more "public" version. Sounds interesting!!

Im not going to post anything but the journal on the other topic. If i miss a word or its "too much" please post a message here or PM me. Back, I enjoyed it immensely. You could do like FFG and have an installment a month  . Except we'd be forced to hurt you.

Great read Backwoods, tweak it a little and post it on here as a series.

Thank you.. It may appear that way anyhow. Gramps had no formal education. I always thought he had a little but i learned for certain last week. The school district has records going back to 1875 and he never enrolled in school.

Thanks again Back. Funny how your email and FFG showed up at the same time today. FFG got put in the book bag for skiing trips but the email got opened immediately. Guess gramps is more gripping than Lew. :D

Thank you TT. He would have liked that. He loved that they started the Lew and Charlie series again. He read it originally in the 20's?, 30's and beyond, but didnt save all the magazines. He got to reread about the first two years before he passed in '88
