My wife was sitting on the front porch a couple evenings ago, about an hour before dark. A bear comes running out of the cornfield across the road, through my neighbor's yard, runs up to his son's beehive , swats it over with one swipe.

These things are getting too brave for their own good. :x :x

You better have that rifle ready Doc! Maybe I'll have to get a bear tag to go along with my West Virginia hunting license.

I think the intrusive bears may want to check the trespass laws in WV.

My uncle had a bear stroll right through his neighbors yard last year. And from what we hear from my dads friend who lives in the northern reaches of the state, bears there are a problem to no end. And the game commission wont do a thing about em. I guess it'll take something terrible to happen before they open their eyes, as is always the case

Come to where I live, that is common practice. Since they have gotten rid of the spring bear hunt the bear #s have increased 10 fold. Not good for our beaver and moose population. Our fall hunt will start in 16 days but that will only decrease the population by a very limited %. Bear is the only animal that I do not trust or can read what it will do. So over the years I just shoot and leave and report to the MNR. When October hits they are mostly gone into hybernation for the winter and my worries are less.
