Going in early AM. Temps heading for 100 degrees all next week.
I am thinking AM way better than PM.

Post subject:  Re: Pipepusher Spring Bear 2013

Pipepusher got out a little early Sunday morning. A plastic yard chair was brought in and set up 9 yards out on the ground behind a couple downed trees. My back was exposed.
1 hour in and Pipe found out he had brought the wrong chair. The bottom side was hurting. ( 1st mistake ) 15 minutes later out of the side of my eye I saw a big blackie stand up just 5 paces to my right and 1 pace back.
The big 44 was not in my hand.
Now as some of you remember, year before last while baiting at this site, a bear came in and could not be run off. With eyes straining to see sideways, my head turned a fraction of an inch and he turned and the sound of his 2 front feet were heard hitting the ground ! He was gone. ( 2nd mistake ) In the next few minutes a second bear was spotted below the barrel side hilling. While expecting that bear to come in there was a Woof uphill to the left. Then a second Woof. This time my head was turned slightly like a minute hand with eyes squinted. There was a smaller bear. He was visible as he came down to the barrel. The gun was now resting over a log but I was doubtful of being able to even hit the barrel.
He milled around a little without standing. The revolver was cocked very silently.
He heard. ( 3rd mistake ) He then crept up hill in site again.
When returning to the truck it took 30 minutes to settle down before running bait back up.

Whoa! Seems like you had all the equipment, maybe not all the correct equipment nor engaged equipment, but all in all that had to be some tense moments! I would rather my "chair" have been well up in a tree as to being eye level to the bear's.

Sounds nerve racking for sure. I can't believe it's still bear season in July?

95 degrees F. at 6:30 P.M. !!!

Next Sat. ...lows to be 57 degrees F. :)
Pipe could even throw it in the cold creek for a spell.
or just take 2 ice chests and 10 bags of ice.

I am not done.
