About a week ago I mentioned to a friend that I wished I had more green beans to can. Today he showed up on my porch with 2 1/2 BUSHELS of them. Wouldn't take a dime for them.

Now if I can just get my wife to string them.

LOL. I told a neighbor that I had extra okra this year if he wanted some. He asked if they were fried, boiled , or pickled. The next day i pulled all the stalks up.

You guys remind me of a old story about a town bum who refused to take care of his family....absolutly lazy. After many warnings from the other men in the small town about his refusal to work and tend to his family, the local men got together and told him he was so useless that they were just going to load him in a wagon and take him to the edge of town and bury him in the cemetery. Continuing to be useless, the men, true to their words, came and put him on a wagon and started with him to the cemetery. Before reaching the cemetery a farmer coming in to town with a wagon load of corn to have ground at the grist mill stopped them and asked what the deal was? The farmer, feeling compassion for the man and his Family offered to donate a portion of his load of corn to end the demise and prevent the man from being buried alive. Upon hearing the offer the lazy man raised up on one elbow and and asked," is it shelled or in the shuck"? Once hearing it was still in the shuck, he laid back out and his last comment was "drive on driver".........
