I attended the Pennsylvania Trappers Association 75th Rendezvous in Clearfield, PA today. I had a blast and learned many new ideas from some of North Americas top trappers. I'm hoping this will pay off this fall.

This is Don Powell from minktrapping.com. He had many new ideas that I want to try, including a twist on the bottom edge set that uses a rubber minnow fishing lure.

This is the demo area.

This is a display case of the history of the PTA.

Also in the display case, E.J. Daily's packbasket

They even were selling black and tan coonhound puppies!

And here is the vendor building that included Mark June, Bob Noonan and Clint Locklear along with many other vendors including NAFA and F&T

And finally, my trophy! For the most feeble attempt at trapping in the state. I'm sure this trophy will be going to a very deserving trapper.

Thanks for the pictures Rick! Wish I could have attended as well. So much to learn from the pros.

I was amazed from where everybody came from. Lots of people from New York, New Jersey and Maryland. There were a few from Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont,Ohio and some even came from Canada! They had vendors from all over the country and the pics don't do it justice but the place was packed! There were over 50 vendors and I walked from one to another looking for the best deal on traps. I picked up a dozen of brand new MB 450's for $160.00! Somebody told me that F&T (they had the biggest booth) had them cheaper yet but they were long gone. This event started Thursday and was there Saturday, so, the best deals were swiped up quick. The bad thing was most of the vendors were cash only and I ran out of money way too quick. I'll take more with me next year but don't tell my wife, I told her I spent $20.00 yesterday.
Here are some of the things I wanted but could'nt buy because I was broke.

Trap Wax: $10.00 for 5 pounds
Duke DP's: $11.50 each
HD Berkshire disposable stakes: $12.00 a dozen
Plus many of the vendors were selling used traps fairly cheap. Some looked rough others looked like they were ready to set and go into the ground. I wrote some of these prices down to see what I found online that was comparable, yep, I should have brought more money.

There were a few women in attendence. The ones worth taking a picture of were with big burley men who would have slammed me if they saw me taking a pic of them! The others, well, lets just say they were not camera friendly.
