Just the other day, I went out mushroom picking with a friend. It was a beautiful day to roam through the back woods. Upon my search for morels, I came across a consumed animal carcass. At first, I thought it to be a wolf kill (I was partially right), after further inspection, I recognized this to be the wolf - not his counterpart prey. Evidence of wolf droppings, size of teeth, skull and hair,,, lots of hair,,, all pointed to it being wolf and not coyote. No radio collar or any sign of foul play could be seen. We did contact our local Game & Fish dept. Unfortunately, because it is still on the endangered species act, was told to leave it be. I thought this was pretty cool and could not help but take a few photos before doing so.

We did manage to find 2 lbs of morels. Here are some photos.

Hopefully ID will get a season pretty soon. The governor has declared war. The gov trappers are already taking them. Here are some tracks we found near one of our camps on the Lochsa last Nov. The date on the camera is off.

Nope,,, I was told to leave it at the scene. However, since I wasn't intending on taking anything illegal, I did bury the remains at the sight. Didn't want anyone else to get into trouble. Actually, our state is expecting do give out wolf tags within a year. (maybe I'll recove the skull then).
